Best Fertilizer Schedule for Wheat

Golden wheat field
Golden wheat field

Wheat responds strongly to timely, balanced nutrition. This stage-wise schedule covers the three nutrients that matter most for yield: nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

At sowing

Apply the full phosphorus dose — for example UP 17-44 or MAP 12-61 — together with potassium such as Hi-gro SOP. Phosphorus drives root development and tillering, while potassium improves lodging resistance and grain fill.

First irrigation (20–25 days)

Apply the first split of nitrogen to support tillering. Do not delay past the crown root initiation stage.

Booting to heading

Apply the second nitrogen split before booting. A foliar micronutrient application of zinc and boron, such as Oshan and Biore, corrects hidden deficiencies and improves grain setting.
